The Substi-TOOT
Scene: Rob and I are driving along with our two darling boys in the back seat of our car.Me: Hey Gav, guess what?
Gavin: What mom?
Me: Dad and I get to be your substitute teachers on Sunday for your class in church, cool huh?
Gavin: (in an amused voice) SUBSTI-TOOOOOOT?
Everett: Toot...he-hehehehehe
Gavin: he-he-hehehe...hehehe
Cue hysterical giggling and belly laughs...am I unconsciously raising Beavis and Butthead!!??
I am telling you I think boys come to this world with permanent immature senses of humor already built in. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Little Ninja
Gavin has been taking karate and LOVES it! He is in the "Little Ninja" class and this was his belt promotion day. He moved up to a white/yellow belt! They got to put on a little show for the parents and friends. Here are some of his sweet skills in action :)
The arm block :)
Receiving his new belt while the crowd cheers...what a little stud right?!
An attempt at a normal picture with Everett...um, nope didn't quite work...oh well, maybe next time.

holiday rundown
I had the best holiday season ever. I don't know what it was about this year but I was feeling oh so Christmas-y. The boys are getting older and really understanding the whole Christmas excitement which of course added to my excitement. I made an advent calendar this year which we filled full of fun stuff to do. We were surrounded by wonderful family and friends. It was great.
We started off with a couple injuries, nothing too serious, just enough to keep my adrenaline pumping. Gavin ran at full speed into a wrought iron bar at Costa Vida one night. The kid completely close-lined himself and went down hard. I saw the whole thing from a distance and could do nothing to stop it. They have iron bars for the food line, where people stand to order and the horizontal cross bar is exactly one inch above Gavin's eye line view. BAM! unicorn horn.
This doesn't do it any justice, I took this the next day. He had a gross black and blue for a while.
Onto to the next: Everett sliced his head open right through his eyebrow, of course forgot to take a good pic of the actual stitching procedure, which was kinda cool. But he sported a band aid for a couple weeks. don't mind the chocolate coma induced stare...and drool.
One of the boys favorite advent calendar activities this year was riding the train at the mall in Provo. Some of the other favorites: Temple square lights, donating mittens to the library tree, sledding, making sugar cookies, and watching Christmas movies.
Santa made a special visit to the Grandma and Grandpa Nash house this year just before Christmas. Here are the cousins loving it.

We spent Christmas with the Lund folk this year. We slept over at my parents house we ate delicious food, played games, opened a ton of presents and had a perfect Christmas. Gavin has never gone to bed so quickly in his life. He knew Santa would not come unless he was asleep. So man did he go to bed fast! I am wondering if I can still use the Santa threats on into January...

Christmas Eve in Alpine at what we call the "Santa House". There is a huge house all lit up like temple square in the cove and Santa always visits for a while and we drove up to see him. These are the cousins sitting in the sleigh. Gavin thought it was pretty much the coolest.

Some of my cute friends from high school had an ugly sweater party after Christmas. It was a blast and it was so fun to catch up with these girls and their hubbies. Here we are looking fantastic :) We couldn't find Rob a sweater so he wore one of my dad's..which was a few sizes large.
Then last but not least we celebrated New Years with our own little partay, we made yummy food and games and music and Gav made us all party hats and we cracked open that bubbly at about 7:00 PM! Yeah you read that right, I know, we are animals right! :) The kids went to bed and Rob and I relaxed and watched movies.
I know we look a little rough but we just got back from sledding O.K?!!

Merry New YeaR!
Normal...no??

Gavin's Fourth!
It is official Gavin is now a big boy...that's what he says anyway. Gavin celebrated the big #4 on the 8th this month. I was all set for a pirate cake but Gav caught the Christmas fever and changed his mind to a Santa and Frosty cake!
Here is a pic of all the fam who came to celebrate minus a few that weren't there yet, and me behind the lens of course! Happy Birthday Gav! Oh and apparently my Dad is from the "hood" YO!... love it! :)

oh...sheet!
So this little dude is a bundle of mischief, he gets into EVERYTHING! He draws on couches, dumps all contents of all drawers on the floor all the time, basically tries to destroy our home on a daily basis. He teases his older brother mercilessly... AND he has picked up some bad language along the way... and a latino accent as well...hmmm, weird. Kinda makes me wonder who he's been hanging out with! pirates?

He can often be heard yelling out profanities like SHEET SHEET! This is the kind of sheet we have in our house.
seat :)
Not to be confused with BOO SHEET! (maybe his name should have been Juan instead of Everett)
booster seat:)
And last but not least....he is wearing his boobs...
boots :)
One would be surprised how often these few words come up in daily conversation with a 1 year old. So what else can we do but punish him with hard labor.
He is a handful but it does make me chuckle when he exclaims SHEET SHEET as he runs to climb up on a chair. :)
